The Largest Cruise-In in North Carolina. Located in Historic Downtown Oakboro on the fourth Friday of every month. This is a wonderful event for the entire family and any car enthusiast out there.

UWHARRIE MOUNTAIN RUN

The course is 100% TRAIL, run on the Uwharrie Trail in the Uwharrie National Forest. The 8-mile and 20-mile courses are point to point. The 40-mile course is out and back, with a turnaround at the 20-mile finish.The race is run on the Uwharrie Trail in the Uwharrie National Forest.

INDEPENDENCE JAZZ REUNION
February 22 at 3pm at the Stanly County Agri Civic Center
Independence Jazz Reunion originated in 1957 when six guys - three University of Pennsylvania and three high school students - began performing all over the east coast. Their unique classic jazz/swing/Dixie/gospel style was loved by audiences in Europe, Bermuda and New York venues - including Carnegie Hall. The lifelong friends were parted for 40 years, but are now back together rekindling their boyhood dreams with concert dates and two new CDs.

ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION
Last weekend in April in Norwood
The event has been a tradition for the last 15 years and has grown to a three day event. Music from gospel to contemporary can be enjoyed during this celebration. Thursday and Friday nights are festive with live music. Saturday, the festival goes full blast with performances from local bands, gymnastics groups and loads of other enterainment. Rides for children good food served by local churches and other vendors, along with arts and craft booths. Also has an annual car show.

PICNIC IN THE PARK
October marks the time when Norwood’s Town Council throws a party for its citizens. One Sunday afternoon during the month the town administration, elected officials and town employees treat residents to an old fashioned picnic at Darrell Almond Community Park. People gather for hot dogs, chips and cool drinks and top it off with hand-dipped ice cream.

A GOLDEN CHRISTMAS
December 5 from 10 AM to 4PM at Reed Gold Mine
 A Golden Christmas.  Come enjoy the only Christmas candlelight tour you can take in the daytime!  The underground mine tunnels will be decorated for the holidays and special holiday-themed tours will tell how Christmas was celebrated over the years at Reed Gold Mine by John Reed, and other miners and their families. The Stamp Mill, circa 1895, will also be open for tours. The celebration continues in the Visitor Center with crafts, historical demonstrations, musical performances, and free refreshments.
